While gifting a book for a child’s birthday, other occasion, or just for fun  is not always at the top of a child’s wishlist, sometimes the right book quickly becomes a cherished favorite.  I have gifted Clover’s Luck – The Magical Animal Adoption Agency so many times to kiddos between the ages of 4 and 10 I have lost count! I even keep a few new copies on hand for last minute kid gifts.  It makes a great “chapter a night” read aloud for younger ages or independent reading for older children.

Every…. single…. child I have given this book to cannot wait to get their hands on Book 2 and Book 3 of the series.

About the Story

Clover is a young girl on summer break who by mistake stumbles upon a cottage labeled the Magical Animal Adoption Agency in the woods near her home.  With the mentorship of Mr. Jams, Clover becomes a volunteer at the Agency learning to take care of fairy horses, unicorns, and a fiery young dragon (that’s just book 1).  The magical creatures who are available for adoption are just as interesting as the witches and wizards who adopt them.

Who Loves this Book

I have gifted this wonderfully imaginative story to both boys and girls (both unicorns and dragons are important adoption characters) ages 4-10. I have given it to kids I know well and kids I don’t know well, but are friends with my daughters. My pediatrician even purchased the book for her daughter based on my rave review as a must-have story.  The result has been the same EVERY SINGLE TIME….

Clover’s Luck – The Magical Animal Adoption Agency becomes each kid’s favorite (at least top 3) books and they can hardly wait to read the other 2 books in the series.

This is also a great book to jumpstart your child’s summer reading adventures!

Did I Like Reading This Story (as the grown up)?

If I am really being honest, do I love all the stories my daughter’s want to hear?  Nope!

However, Clover’s Luck was different.  Not only did I enjoy it myself, but I kinda wish there was a more detailed version for adults.

As a parent, I also thoroughly enjoyed Clover’s story and seeing how much enjoyment my daughters got from the magical characters and setting. I love asking them questions like “what magical animal would you want to take care of?” or “what are other magical animals you think need help finding a home?”  For more fun imagination questions to ask your child while reading download this FREE PRINTABLE ACTIVITY: Summer Reading Adventures Log.

Reading for Pure Enjoyment is Important to Inspire Life-Long Readers

I am a big believer in helping kids discover reading for enjoyment, discovery, and adventure!  This is one of those books that universally seems to touch that free spirit imagination many kids have in this age group.  Showing kids reading for pure enjoyment will grow a child’s reading skills and encourage a  life-long reader spirit.

I hope you give this book a try!

P.S.  The Magical Animal Adoption Agency is a great book series to inspire some summer reading adventures and reading for fun!
