There are a number of beautifully written books to read aloud to preschool children. Dan Santat’s After the Fall expands upon the story of Humpty Dumpty. In the zany book This is a Ball, the narrator tries to convince the reader that a cube is a ball and a car is a bike. Arree Chung’s Mixed is about love and tolerance, while Leo Lionni’s Swimmy teaches the power of teamwork. Thank You, Mr. Panda teaches children about gratitude. Sky Color is about an artist who has to paint the sky without using the color blue. Finally, Jabari Jumps is about a child who is reluctant to take a high dive into a swimming pool.
- After the Fall has been one of the many favorites of preschool teachers.
- This is a Ball is another book that many teachers have been using.
- Mixed is a great book to read to the kids as it helps with with imagination.
“Some are beautifully written with important messages, some go with holidays we couldn’t celebrate together, and others are just funny books”
