The researchers say the risk of leukemia is not influenced by the number of times the ultrasound
exam is performed. And while the risk of lymphatic leukemia doesn't seem to be influenced by
when during the pregnancy the exams are performed, the risk of another form of leukemia -
myeloid leukemia that affects blood-forming tissues - is slightly, but not significantly, higher when
performed during the second trimester.
The researchers also say there's no increased risk dependent on the age of the mother, the
birthweight of the child, and twin pregnancies.
